Impact is a fine shampoo that is prepared specifically for use on Haitian cotton and similar material where browning is a problem. Foam can easily be generated by machine or by dipping a sponge into the solution and then squeezing the sponge successively above the liquid level (wear impervious gloves). By just using the foam, the fabric will obtain the minimum amount of wetting. Excess foam can be removed with an extractor or good wet-vac.
Some professionals, when faced with very dirty surface, follow the foam treatment with a low pH extraction solution (1oz. Steam Plus II) and then spray the piece with odorless mineral spirits or equivalent.
Any method can be used that is tested, minimizes wetting and dries rapidly.
Dilute Impact at a ratio of 1 part to 10 parts water. Establish the general condition of the piece to be cleaned with the customer noting any unusual conditions for future reference.
Test an inconspicuous area and dry with a hair dryer to determine the suitability of cleaning with Impact.
Impact may be applied by foam-generating machine, sponge or any method that scrubbing is done with the foam (see other panel for more detail).
Wash thoroughly after handling.
